After Thanksgiving

Mom and Dad left this morning for home. We enjoyed their visit over the thanksgiving holiday.
On a more melancholy note a friend and comrade, Captain Rob Yllescas, dies yesterday from wounds suffered while serving in Afghanistan on October 28, 2008. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Dena and their two children.

Holiday Weekend

We are wrapping up a great holiday weekend here in Miami. My parents (Jerry and Marilynn) are visiting from Tennessee, Calvin had most of the weekend off from work and the weather was spectacular. Only wish was that Cassie could have been here, but she had a great time in NYC with friends at the Thanksgiving Parade and sightseeing.

As good as this weekend was I tend towards the melancholy on November 29th as it is the anniversary of a particularly rough day we had in Iraq back in 2005. Add to that the fact that a friend and former subordinate wounded in Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago is fighting for his life today at the Bethesda Medical Center. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

But as for us, we are off to brunch on the beach and some NFL action this afternoon. Go Redskins!!

Election Update

A poll of the Boston house shows a suprising trend. We all four voted for the same person for president! Odd since Candis and I usually split our vote and this is the kids first election.

Election Day

It occurred to me today (again) that both of my children are old enough to vote. The fact they both registered and did so with no help or input from Candis or I makes me proud to see them a part of the process.

Candis is travelling back to Miami today from Kansas. She has been in Manhattan taking care of Cassie who got sick last week with a bad food allergy. All is well now and she gets home tonight.

New Blog

Hello all. We thought it would be cool and modern to start a family blog to keep folks up to date on our activities.

Today find Candis in Kansas with Cassie. Cassie got sick earlier this week with an allergic reaction to something she ate. It was a little scary as she was admitted into the ICU at Mercy hospital in Manhattan for observation. All is well now, she is out of the hospital and her mom is there and in charge.

Calvin and I are in Miami. He starts a new job today and I am concentrating on domestic chores.
